The Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay (ACB) and the Reedy Creek Coalition (RCC) are pleased to announce a financial incentive program which will be made available in the near future to residential homeowners interested in reducing their environmental footprint at home. This incentive program – set to start in August – will provide financial assistance to homeowners to install conservation practices to reduce polluted runoff. These conservation practices include rain barrels, raingardens, tree plantings, BayScapes landscaping, and other practices. This program will help improve the water quality in Reedy Creek, the James River and the Chesapeake Bay.
The basic requirements for eligibility are:
- The residences must be located within the Reedy Creek watershed.
- The homeowner must apply for and have a watershed protection audit by ACB/RCC. See
http://reedycreekcoalition.org/watershed-audits/
for information on how to sign up for a free audit. - The audit report must contain a recommendation related to a best management practice covered by the financial incentive program.
More information about the incentive program will be made available in August, but you can sign up for an audit now at
http://reedycreekcoalition.org/watershed-audits/
.
We currently have openings for audits on Saturday July 30, Saturday August 20, and Saturday August 27. We can usually arrange audits on week-day evenings as well.

Don’t send your rain water to Reedy Creek. Keep it where it falls.
